Hi, this is Kiyomi. I am in charge of SDGs activities at the Singapore branch.
On 5th July 2024, 11 volunteer members from SGP branch accompanied 10 AWWA members with special needs who use wheelchairs & staff on an excursion to the aquarium on Sentosa Island. SGP branch paid for the rental fee for a special bus for wheelchair users and the admission fee for the AWWA members.
I would like to share our volunteer activities with you.
9:20am, a briefing with the staff before welcoming the AWWA members.
We entered through the VIP entrance before AWWA members arrived.
Our admission tickets were paid for by each volunteer member.
Thank you everyone!
AWWA team has arrived.
This was the first time that AWWA members had visited the aquarium.
This was also the first time that some of our volunteer members had visited the aquarium.
Everyone was thrilled to see so many sharks and fish in the big aquarium.
They looked curiously at the many floating jellyfish.
The aquarium staff gave them a special chance to touch a starfish.
They were very interested in the lionfish, with its unique body shape.
He has been in and out of the hospital many times, but the doctor gave him permission 2 days ago to join the trip. It was his first outing of the year. He can’t speak, but an AWWA staff told me “It’s been a long time since we’ve seen him so happy!”
After the tour, it’s time for a snack!
After seeing off AWWA members, we enjoyed lunch together. We also had a meaningful time with AWWA members. It’s great to see everyone’s happy smiles!
SGP branch will continue to support AWWA.
