Hello! This is Ching from Hong Kong Branch, a member of Social Value and Well-being Committee (SVWC) in FY2023.

Despite Hong Kong’s status as one of the wealthiest cities in the world, there are many underprivileged that required our support and attentions. The Community Chest of Hong Kong (the “Chest”) is one the most proactive charity organization on Hong Kong to provide funding and service to those in needs, including children, elderly, family welfare, medical service, and rehabilitation service etc.

The Community Chest allocates a total of HK$276 million to 168 social welfare member agencies and helped over 2.5 million beneficiaries.

This year, our branch joined the Chest’s Flag Selling Day on 18 November 2023 to raise funding for the Chest. While we joined with our family members to sell flags in different regions in Hong Kong, it was very delighted to see that everyone in the streets is familiar with the works of the Chest and showed genuine supports.

After hours of flag selling, all of the participants had collected a heavy load of donation for the Chest with a satisfying smile on their face.

A Flag Selling Day is essential for the charity to get in touch with general public, raise funding, and raise public’s attention to the those in needs. Although we may not be the direct service provider to those underprivileged, we believed our participation would turn into great initiatives for the Chest, and the society eventually.
