Hello ! This is Morgan from NY branch.
On Wednesday November 9th, SuMi Trust Americas Division supported Chanoyu Week in NYC by inviting employees to partake in a learning opportunity about the Chanoyu tradition. The class was conducted by a Tea Master, Mr. Yoshitsugu Nagano.
Our General Manager, Mr. Atsushi Ueda gave a short speech thanking employees for taking time to immerse themselves in Japanese culture and learn more about important traditions.
Mr. Nagano explained the background and importance of the ceremony before allowing employees to practice the ceremony with a fellow employee.
Through the rituals of Chanoyu, this class provided a means of escaping the daily stresses and pressures of our modern society and the daily information overload that we live with, and a means of balancing the mind and body.
