Hi, this is Meng Yee from the Americas Division in New York.
In November 2023, our Employee Resource Group for Asian American Pacific Islander (“AAPI”) members volunteered at a cooking class organized by NY de Volunteer at a Brooklyn high school.
Over 20 students, along with teachers and the school’s principle, participated in a dynamic event where volunteer staff showcased the preparation of Miso Soup and the art of making Temaki. This created interactive and lively environment for everyone.
Students not only gained skills in crafting Temaki, a cone-shaped sushi, and Maki Sushi, using bamboo mats correctly, but also relished Miso Soup prepared by the volunteers. The day concluded with students leaving with their sushi creations and ingredients for making Miso Soup at home.
Enthusiastic students are already looking forward to future sessions where they can learn about ramen and mochi.
