Together with Nikko Asset Management Americas, SuMi Trust hosted an event to celebrate International Women’s Day.

SMTAMA employees were also invited to attend. In total, 44 employees of SMTBNYB, NAMA, and SMTAMA attended the event.

Ms. Stefanie Drews, President of Nikko Asset Management, kicked off the event an impactful welcome speech on women in the workplace. She thoughtfully wove her career history with women’s issues that are still faced in the workplace, such as mothers taking care of young children.

Participants enjoyed a vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and regular lunch spread during a networking session. Followed by a panel discussion, hosted by Career Contessa coach, Kelly Will, and offered views from Mariko Oyabu, SMTBNY Head of Loan Operations, and Laura Jordan, NAMA Head of Human Resources.

The panel raised awareness about challenges and opportunities for gender equality, and equip attendees with valuable career development tools and insights. Attendees were also able to ask questions and interact with the panelists. The event helped to foster a supportive network for women to connect and empower each other.
