Hi, This is Morgan from New York Branch.
On Tuesday March 14th Ms. Viana Ng, Executive Vice President, hosted an in-office SDG event to provide 5,000 snack packs to those experiencing food insecurity.
12.9% of New Yorkers are food insecure, which is 12% higher than the national rate. Today, City Harvest is New York City’s largest food rescue organization, helping to feed the millions of New Yorkers who are struggling to make ends meet. They rescue food each year and deliver it, free of charge, to hundreds of food pantries, soup kitchens and other community partners across the five boroughs. City Harvest works alongside community partners like the Bank to boost community capacity, expand nutrition education, and strengthen local food systems.
The event began with an informative speech from Lesha Ingram, Donor Relations and Supply Chain Coordinator for City Harvest. She provided employees with information about the organization and the impact their time and efforts would make for those who received the donations. Our employees then got to work!
Each individual snack pack had canned salmon, juice, and saltine crackers as requested by City Harvest. They were donated to City Harvest, who distributed them to those in need in the Children of the Light Food Pantry in Brooklyn, NY.
55 employees attended the event and helped us reach an amazing goal of 5,000 snack packs! We are so grateful for those who gave up their time for this amazing cause!
