Hello! This is Rita Chang from Hong Kong Branch.
Apart from the Clothes Recycling Event held in one month ago, the second collaboration activity with The Salvation Army (TSA)of this year is about the Red Packet for 2023 Lunar New Year. To express our continuous support to TSA and their worldwide charitable activities, it has been our third year to engage TSA for the Red Packet design and printing service.
A red envelope (hongbao in Mandarin and lai see in Cantonese) is a gift of money inserted into an ornate red pocket of paper. They are given on some important occasions, such as Lunar New Year, birthdays, and weddings in China and some other Asian countries as a way to send good wishes. The color red symbolizes energy, happiness, and good luck in Chinese cultures. Traditional red envelopes are often decorated with beautiful Chinese calligraphy and symbols.
Same as many financial institutions in Hong Kong, SMTB Hong Kong Branch would distribute the envelope of Red Packets with our branch logo printed at the back to our dearest customers. Instead of making at printing company, SMTB Hong Kong Branch engaged with TSA as a partnership for their red packet design and printing service, with a printed message “In Support of The Salvation Army”. It contributes to the 17th goal of SDG, “Partnerships for the Goals”, to support TSA’s all kinds of programme for every person, of every age, in every country, that in need.
TSA is an international charitable organisation. It brings salvation to the poor, destitute, and hungry by meeting their “physical and spiritual needs”. It presents in 132 countries, running charity shops, operating shelters for homeless and disaster relief, and humanitarian aid to developing countries.
