Hello! This is Danny Wong from Hong Kong Branch, a member of Social Value and Well-being Committee (SVWC) in FY2022.
In order to broaden our social value coverage, we explored a partnership opportunity with a famous social enterprise in Hong Kong to provide us a food and beverage service in a party organized internally at our branch in June 2022.
This social enterprise is Gingko House, which is a social enterprise set up around 20 years in Hong Kong. Their objective is to advocate senior employment for elderlies and to fulfill their hopes of leading a fruitful working life after their retirement.
In 2003, a group of elderly home volunteers founded Gingko House when they realized how depressed senior citizens can become when facing difficulties in getting re-employed.
In 2011, Gingko House established “Hong Kong Kitchen” to provide a catering services and dining facilities for private parties. They aim to promote Hong Kong traditional food made by elderlies.
As of today, more than 3,000 elderlies have been employed by Gingko House in five restaurants throughout Hong Kong. By ordering food and drinks in Gingko House in our party, we hope that it can show our support and appreciations to the elderlies and raise the awareness of elderly employment issue in our society.
Besides, in order to promote SVWC and the purpose of Hong Kong Branch to our new joiner, starting from July 2022, we have added a new slide in the HR Orientation materials to introduce the concept of social value and well-being to our new joiner.
We hope that it can encourage our new staff to participate in our coming SVWC activities.
